Arne Jacobsen: Furniture and objects

Arne Jacobsen is one of the few architects famous both for his activity as a furniture designer and for his architectural work; the SAS Royal Hotel and the National Bank are two of his most outstanding projects as an architect, while pieces like the Huevo armchair, the Series 7 chair, the Ant chair and the Swan chair have long become icons of Danish furniture design. One of the innovative features is the organic lines and sculptural elements , clearly present in pieces such as the Cisne chair and the Huevo armchair: not a single straight line hinders the soft curves of these creations. The abandonment of the straight element, of the geometric lines, is one of the fundamental features of Arne Jacobsen's furniture. For this reason, while the scope of Arne Jacobsen's architectural work is limited, his furniture and other interior design projects have become national and international heritage.
