An outstanding figure in 20th century art, Joan Miró has bequeathed a definitive work whose irradiation has not stopped growing. This work, which partially includes the analyzes of Dupin's first important study on Joan Miró, published in 1961, has been considerably reworked and enriched. This means that it takes into account the work carried out by the painter in the last two decades of his life, as well as a large number of documents discovered after his death —projects, notebooks, texts, correspondence—, to which Jacques Dupin has had access thanks to his privileged relations with the Miró family and the works of art historians and exhibition organizers published in the last thirty years. It is, therefore, a completely updated edition of the one prepared in 1993, on the occasion of the centenary of the birth of Joan Miró. A friend and collaborator of Joan Miró since 1956, Jacques Dupin has organized numerous exhibitions dedicated to Miró and has been the editor of the catalog raisonné of the painter's pictorial work.
